His Royal Majesty Ampun Sultan Hadji Muedzul-Lail Tan Kiram, The 35th Sultan of Sulu and North Borneo, brought to the attention of the Philippine Government the plight of his Tausug brothers and sisters who lost their homes and livelihood in a huge blaze.

More than 1,500 families were affected in this disastrous incident and the Sultanate’s stretched resources were inadequate to support all families. His Majesty requested support from the Governor of Sulu, the Hon. Datu Shahbandar Abdusakur Tan, and the Chairman of the Mindanao Development Agency, the Hon. Secretary Emmanuel Piñol, to assist him and his people.
